NEW YORK — The Bauhaus was a pioneering American art movement, says a prominent Chicago lawyer who has written about the art movement in the city.
He goes on to say, Its really been a pivotal period in the history of Chicago. For many years, the name of the movement was a political one, and its practitioners often were members of the Communist Party.
But in the late 1960s and early 1970s, as the city moved toward becoming a more liberal, multicultural city, the movement became a symbol of a more American style of politics, says Michael Wertheim, who teaches at the University of Chicagos Law School and is the author of “The American Way of Politics.”
When the city elected its first African-American mayor in 1971, Wertheimer says, he felt a sense of pride that this was the first major American city to elect a black mayor.
We were in a golden age, Wertheit says.
In the ’70s, Witz says, the idea of the Bauhuiss music was being played around the country.
He says that a group of young artists and musicians called the Bauhuas created a series of albums and a TV show that brought them worldwide attention.
It was like the `Hoo-Hoo Girls of the 1970s.
They were doing all kinds of things, he says.
The movements appeal, however, was not limited to Chicago.
In the 1970s, it was adopted by many American cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego.
Wertheim says that the Baus were also instrumental in creating the music scene in Chicago.
They created the A-Side to the Beat, a record by singer Darlene Sturgis, and a band called The Beat.In the 1970’s, Wretheim says, they played the Celestial City, an indoor dance hall in the neighborhood, to show that the city was open for business.
In the 1980s, they created Pillow Talk, which featured the likes of George Clinton, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and the Rolling Stones.
The show was a hit, and the city even opened its first dance studio, Wrehentheim says.
In 2000, the Bufos celebrated their 80th anniversary by creating a new music festival, a series that included acts such as the Rolling Thunder, the Black Eyed Peas, The Roots, Stevia and the Flaming Lips.
Wertstein says that this year, they hosted performances by acts such for example The Weeknd, Kacey Musgraves and Tame Impala.
Wrehentstein says he believes that the success of the music festival and the Buchers’ efforts to change Chicago, and to make the city more welcoming to immigrants and minorities, is what helped it to become one of the most multicultural cities in the world.
But Wertheis also says that Chicago is still a city with a long way to go, and that, We still need to continue to change.Chicagoans may not be ready for the B-Side and Pillow Talk just yet.
Wretheis says that they need to work on the diversity and inclusion of their police department. He adds, I think the police department is a good example, and he hopes to have a uniformed unit that includes Hispanics and Asians by 2020.
Wrenheit says that in the next five years, he believes the city will see a change.
He predicts that the new officers will be Hispanic and Asian, and there will be a police chief who is Hispanic and a prosecutor who is Asian.
Wrehets also says the city can become more multicultural,He is the first Asian mayor of a major city in the United States, she says.
Werheis believes that hell be able to get these changes, if he is successful in his efforts to attract more Asians and Hispanics into the police force.
He also wants to see the city embrace its African-Americans, who have made huge strides in the last 20 years.
Wes Bauhols has been a member of the Chicago Police Department for nearly 20 years and has seen changes in the police chief and the department since he took the job in 2006.
He has not seen anything quite like the transformation that has taken place in the department in the past five years.
Bauhol is proud that the department has evolved and improved since he was sworn in.
He is proud of the work that the African-America community has done in the building of the city, Bauhel says.
He also wants the police to make a commitment to improving the departments race relations.
Bauerhol says that he is confident that the police will make good on that promise.
He said that the Chicago police officers that he
